The Flagstaff Unified School District is weighing its options for gradually reopening schools and allowing in-person classes to resume.
District spokesperson Zac Fountain says the school board will meet Oct. 6 to review plans for a phased reopening.
"Our proposals are all about figuring out how, when we hit those health thresholds, we’re able to make the best choices for students," Fountain said. "We want our kids back, we know our kids and families want to come back, we’re just trying to work through to make sure we have the right plan to do it safely."
Flagstaff schools have conducted entirely remote classes since the beginning of the school year. Fountain says the district will only reopen schools when public health data indicates it’s safe to do so.
