SRP To Build Solar Plant In Pinal County

SRP is building a 100-megawatt solar plant in Pinal County. The plant is part of an ongoing project to bring renewable energy to Arizona.

The plant will provide power for Intel and create 350 construction jobs.

The project is part of an ongoing effort to provide renewable energy for schools and municipalities plus corporate customers such as Apple, Walmart and Boeing.

"SRP’s corporate mission for a hundred years has continued to be a reliable, low cost, water and power provider to the Valley. With renewable energy continuing to drop in cost, it allows us to bring these new resources of clean energy, economically, to our stakeholders and customers," said Bill Carroll, a spokesman for SRP.

SRP hopes to finish building the new plant by December.
