Trump, Biden Try To Win Voters In First Presidential Debate

With very few voters' minds left undecided, President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden will compete in the first presidential debate of the election this evening.

Professor Samara Klar with the University of Arizona's School of Government and Public Policy said educated voters will be looking for substance over style.

“I really do think they are looking for some policy answers, trying to figure out what these candidates are going to do to stimulate the economy, to get jobs back and to deal with the public health crisis, to get kids back in schools and everyone back to a semi-normal life,” she said.

Klar added she believes Biden has an advantage because with respect to how the Trump administration has handled the pandemic, she said, “most Americans are not thrilled with how things have gone so far.”

Live coverage of the debate begins tonight at 6 p.m. on 91.5 FM and kjzz.org.
