The Tonto National Forest is reopening after conducting an assessment of the Superstition Fire.
The National Forest Service says an emergency response team studied land in the Superstition Fire perimeter and found 90% of the area to be either "unburned or as having low soil burn severity."
The work was conducted by the Burned Area Emergency Response team, which assesses the impact of wildfires and makes recommendations to protect natural resources.
The response team concluded the fire caused "a relatively low to moderate level of debris-flow hazard in the Old West Boulder Canyon and in the southeastern portion of the burn area" and suggested visitors exercise caution when recreating there.
Acting on the response team recommendations, the Forest Service says it will post warning signs at Canyon Lake and several trailheads and forest roads.
