The Pinal County Public Health Department has ordered San Tan Foothills High School to close until at least Oct. 21 after a cluster of COVID-19 cases was identified in the school community.
The Health Department says it will use the closure to begin contact tracing and advising people who were exposed to enter quarantine.
In a statement, the health officials said it believes that closing the San Tan Valley school was "the most appropriate step to contain and stop the spread as quickly as possible."
The closure may be extended if necessary.
