On Monday, Tempe started offering $1.1 million in grantsto small businesses struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic.
This is the city's first coronavirus-related grant program for small businesses. Awards may be up to $10,000 per business, based on the number of full-time staff employed.
There is a max to qualify. The business must have fewer than100 staffers and earn less than $5 million in gross annual income.
And to qualify, the entity must be a private, for-profit business physically located in Tempe" and staying within Tempe city limits through April 2021.
The program is designed for businesses in industries directly impacted by business restrictions imposed under executive orders and mayoral proclamations related to the COVID-19 pandemic as shown in area unemployment data .
Businesses operating out of a home or mobile unit are not eligible. Applications will close Oct. 30.
