If your Arizona driver’s license has an expiration date between March and December 2020, the governor is giving you an extra year to renew it. That’s to keep older adults from having to make the trip to the MVD during the pandemic. But one KJZZ listener wanted to know — can you use that expired license at your polling place?
Yes.
The Arizona Secretary of State’s Office says the validity of the licenses covered by the governor’s executive order applies for any legal purpose and that includes voting. If you have one of the licenses that expired in the last few months, that also should not have any impact on signature verification for your mail-in ballot.
The state says poll workers will receive training on this; but if your ID were to be questioned at the polls, you can ask to speak to the marshal or inspector. Voters can also report issues at polling locations to the Secretary of State's Office at 877-THE-VOTE.
The state also accepts many other forms of identification. Voters can, for example, provide two forms of identification that show a name and address without a photo, such as a utility bill dated within 90 days of the election, plus a valid Arizona vehicle registration.
