Alliance Of Arizona Nonprofits Denounces Trump Diversity Training Restrictions Order

The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits has joined more than 160 organizations nationwide that have denounced President Trump’s recent executive order placing restrictions on diversity training.

The alliance says the order — which carries a threat of withholding federal funding — will create confusion in the workplace.

The alliance has more than a thousand members. Kristen Merrifield, CEO of the alliance, said the order will discourage diversity training in the workplace.

“It will cause a lot of folks to do nothing," she said, "because there’s fear, right? Especially for those organizations that have government funding, which a lot of nonprofits do have government grants and contracts.”

She said that the order comes at a time when there is momentum for diversity in the workplace.
