A 2018 young adult novel about a Black child shot by police is getting attention today, as protests over racial injustice and police misconduct continue.
In the book, " Ghost Boys," a 12-year-old boy is shot by police and, as a ghost, sees what happens in and to his community in the aftermath of that shooting. He also meets the ghost of Emmett Till, who becomes a kind of guide to the boy.
The book’s author, Jewell Parker Rhodes is the Virginia G. Piper Endowed Chair of Creative Writing at Arizona State University, and the author of other books.
The Show spoke with her about the renewed interest in "Ghost Boys."
