Oro Valley is in for a treat, as golfing legend Phil Mickelson will team up with basketball Hall of Famer Charles Barkley to take on two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Peyton Manning and three-time NBA champion and former MVP Stephen Curry on Nov. 27 at Stone Canyon Golf Club.
The focus of “The Match: Champions for Change” is centered around benefiting historically black colleges and universities with additional initiatives that are concentrated on highlighting diversity.
While this is the third event held from “The Match” franchise, it will be the first event without Tiger Woods. Mickelson initially faced Woods in a one-on-one playoff in 2018, and again earlier this year when Woods teamed up with Peyton Manning to face Mickelson and five-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Tom Brady.
The nationally televised event will pair one of the world’s best golfers Mickelson with Barkley who is not known for his golfing prowess.
