Through our Q&AZ project, a listener asks where can you find out who the state’s electors for the general election are. Those are the 11 representatives who cast the state’s votes for president in the Electoral College.
Voters can find the names of these people in a couple of places, said Gina Roberts, the voter education director for the state’s Citizens Clean Elections Commission. They can visit the commission’s website, the Arizona Secretary of State’s website or they can see them on their ballot.
“So when a voter gets their official ballot, and they go vote for the office of president, next to the president’s name and their vice presidential running mate, they will see the names of the 11 electors printed on their ballot, Roberts said.
Arizona gets 11 electors, a number that’s based on the state’s representation in Congress. Arizona has a winner-take-all system where all 11 electoral votes will go to the presidential candidate that gets the popular vote in the state, Roberts said, adding that the state also has laws to prevent faithless electors. The electors for the winning candidate will meet in December to cast their official vote.
