Arizona Gov. Ducey Announces Additional $7 Million For Housing Assistance

Gov. Doug Ducey is  putting another $7 million toward housing assistance in Arizona. This comes about two months before the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's nationwide moratorium on evictions is set to expire.

The state’s  program will get $5 million to prevent foreclosure for rental property owners, doubling the original budget for that program.

The other $2 million will be added to the Arizona Department of Housing assistance program for renters, which was set up in March with a budget of $5 million. More than $4 million of that has been distributed.

Of 29,000 applications, that program  has assisted just 2,100 households. But the state reports about $50 million in aid is still available through other county, city, and nonprofit  rental assistance programs.
