As the country is seeing spikes in coronavirus cases and Arizona is seeing its biggest increases in months, the Arizona Department of Health Services warns of the risk of family gatherings this holiday season.
Dr. Cara Christ says even small gatherings can spread COVID-19 and urges people to celebrate at home with the family they live with.
"I hope that I am wrong, but what I would anticipate is to see a spike about 10 to 14 days after Thanksgiving. And then potentially, a continued increase over the next four to six weeks," Christ said.
Arizona reported about 1,900 cases in one day on Saturday and another 1,500 on Sunday.
Christ says the Department will be putting out guidance and mitigation strategies and is working with hospitals to prepare for any increase in demand for supplies and support.
