Several races for county-level elected positions in Maricopa County are still too close to call, but more results are expected Friday evening.
Democratic Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone won re-election over his opponent, Republican Jerry Sheridan, by more than 10%. Penzone, with more than 1 million votes, earned more votes than any other candidate on the ballot in Maricopa County.
Several Maricopa County races remain uncalled: county attorney, recorder and school superintendent contests are all within a few thousand votes of each other, with more results expected later today.
Republican Eddie Cook has a slight lead over Democrat Aaron Connor for County assessor.
In the tight race for District 28 state senator, Democrat Christine Marsh leads Republican incumbent Kate Brophy-McGee by a little under 2,000 votes.
Maricopa County will release more results Friday evening.
