A pilot program is beginning in Jackson, Mississippi, that has some wondering about whether gradual changes could be coming to Americans’ expectations of privacy.
The program would give the city’s police department the opportunity to look at surveillance from private homes’ Ring doorbell cameras.
Jackson’s mayor says the camera access would provide law enforcement the ability to follow up with images and video once a crime has been reported.
The Show spoke with Josh Abbott, an attorney and the executive director of the Center for Law, Science and Innovation at Arizona State University's Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, about the legal and societal questions resulting from this approach.
