St. Mary’s Food Bank About 7,800 Turkey Donations Short Of Goal

Thanksgiving is two weeks away, but St. Mary’s Food Bank has come up short in turkey donations.

Spokesperson Jerry Brown says they need about 7,800 turkeys to reach their goal. As the pandemic continues, demand for food has been at an all-time high.

“We’ve been putting out about 10 million pounds of food a month. We have never in our 53-year history put out 10 million pounds in a single month, prior to this year, and we’ve done it several times in the last few months,” Brown said.

Brown also says people can donate turkeys and nonperishable canned goods at their two locations in Phoenix and Surprise.

The food bank will also host their annual Super Saturday Turkey Driveon Nov. 21.
