College Scholarship Application Window Opens For Arizona Immigrants

Applications are now being accepted for scholarships that help so-called Dreamers and certain other immigrants go to college in Arizona.

The scholarship is to attend Grand Canyon, Arizona State or Benedictine universities, said Candy Marshall, president of TheDream.US.

“Dreamers are saying, ‘Is now really the time I should be going to college?,’” she said.

Many want to help families because the pandemic may have stolen their job or their parents'.

But the president-elect backs making Dreamers and their parents citizens. And if Congress were to pass immigration reform.

“The fact that Dreamers are in college now, will better position them to be on the path to citizenship, Marshall said.

TheDream.US is supporting 270 college students in Arizona during the fall semester and has helped 65 college graduates here, she said.
