Citizenship Test On Civics Scheduled To Double In Length

Federal officials say the length of a civic test that immigrants must pass to become U.S. citizens will soon double.

People can apply for citizenship before Dec. 20 to still take the 2008 version of the civics test. Under the old version, immigrants are asked up to 10 questions from a list of 100.

The new version of the test will pose 20 questions from a list 128.

The minimum passing score remains the same — 60%.

Federal officials say topics covered in the new test give immigrants more chances to learn about U.S. history and government while they study.
