Violence In Caborca Claims Life Of 4-Year-Old, At Least 4 Others

The security situation in the northwest Sonoran city of Caborca continues to degrade.

This time the violence has claimed a four-year-old, along with at least four other people, according to official statements.

The child was killed along with two other men, who were traveling in a Honda Civic found with numerous bullet holes early Monday morning. Another occupant was wounded.

In a separate incident, two men were found dead in a Caborca home, along with spent shells. Caborca has seen murder jump dramatically in 2020, with investigations through September nearly equaling the three previous years combined.

Minors have not been spared by the violence. In Sonora there have been 29 murder victims 17-years-old or younger in 2020, more than any of the five previous years included in federal crime data.
