A central Arizona Indian community will receive nearly half a million dollars in federal funding to expand transit service.
The Yavapai-Apache Nation will receive $445,000 under a Federal Transit Administration program.
The agency provides grants for tribal public transportation programs all over the country, and this was the only Arizona tribe selected in a recent round of funding.
The grant will help tribal residents access jobs, health care and other services in Yavapai County and throughout the state.
