Officials with the Arizona Republican Party are asking for an audit of the machines used to count ballots in the 2020 general election. The audit would only apply to Maricopa County.
Pinal County GOP leader Michael Burke delivered a letter to Gov. Doug Ducey asking for a special session to consider passing a law requiring an audit of Maricopa County’s election machines.
Burke said he and his colleagues do not believe President-elect Joe Biden could have received more votes in Maricopa County than 2016 Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton did without a software problem.
However the letter does not call for examination of tabulating machines used in other counties where President Trump won.
The vote difference between Trump and Biden is only 11,000 votes. Burke says he realizes this is a “Hail Mary."
