Two weeks after undergoing surgery to address a brain bleed, Maricopa County Attorney Allister Adel is still recovering but doing well.
Adel underwent emergency surgery for bleeding in the area between her brain and inner skull lining. The surgery relieved the pressure on her brain.
In a Nov. 19 statement, her treating physician, Dr. Michael Lawton, president and CEO of Barrow Neurological Institute, described her as alert and communicative.
Adel, who was appointed to the position of Maricopa County attorney last year, is the first woman elected to the post.
While she recovers, her duties will be handled by Chief Deputy Ken Vick and Chief of Staff Candice Copple.
