Food Banks Hard At Work As Thanksgiving Approaches

With the holidays approaching, demand for food is growing among many families in the Phoenix area. St. Mary’s food bank has already begun its Thanksgiving dinner distribution.

Spokesman Jerry Brown said the line of cars stretched for over two miles Monday morning with families in need hoping to get a turkey on the table for Thanksgiving.

“I think as the number of COVID cases rise, as the number of people are not able to go to work or not able to, if they’re being laid off. We’re seeing more people come to the food banks," Brown said.

Brown says while supplies are currently holding up well, more turkeys are needed.
