Arizona Health Care Leaders Continue Pleas For Caution Ahead Of Thanksgiving

Arizona’s health care workers are continuing to urge caution ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Greater Phoenix Leadership Council's Health Sector Task Force released a video message this week warning that the state’s intensive care units are nearing capacity as COVID-19 infections reach levels not seen since summer. The video features leaders of local hospitals.

“We can’t afford to lose any more children, grandparents, best friends, co-workers or neighbors,” says Todd LaPorte, CEO of Honor Health.

“And we can’t ask more from our already stretched health care providers,” says Linda Hunt, senior vice president of Dignity Health.

More than 6,400 Arizonans have died of COVID-19. The health care leaders say the state could see another 4,000 COVID-19 deaths by the end of the year.
