Dole Fresh Vegetables Recalls 2 Romaine Products After Possible E.Coli Contamination

Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling two of its romaine lettuce products sold in Arizona and 14 other states due to possible E. coli bacteria contamination.

The recalled products are Dole Organic Romaine Hearts (3 pack) and Wild Harvest Organic Romaine Hearts harvested Oct. 23 to 26.

Terri Farnetti from the Yavapai County Health Department says there have been no reports of illness.

"No other Dole products are included in the recall. The voluntary recall does not apply to any bagged or any clam-shell salad romaine product," Farnetti said.

The possibly contaminated products are no longer sold in stores, and Farnetti recommends consumers check products they have at home.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, "pathogenic E. coli can cause diarrhea, severe stomach cramps and vomiting. Most people recover within a week, but some illnesses can last longer and can be more severe."
