The coronavirus continues to spread throughout Arizona. There was a slight decrease in infections reported Nov. 25 with 3,982 new cases. Maricopa County still has the highest number of cases, but rural areas are also seeing a sharp rise in infections.
The current surge in COVID-19 cases in Arizona has medical officials concerned about whether there will be enough health care workers and enough beds to care for people who develop the most serious symptoms. This comes on top of the Thanksgiving holiday and the reality that doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals have been dealing with COVID patients for most of the year.
Dr. Ross Goldberg of Valleywise Health is the president of the Arizona Medical Association. The Show spoke with him about whether or not he is concerned about the availability of beds and equipment to care for COVID-19 patients in the near future.
