Arizona State University has selected filled an important vacancy in its research, partnership and economic development efforts.
ASU has chosen statistician Sally C. Morton to lead its Knowledge Enterprise.
The former dean of the College of Science at Virginia Tech is known for using data science to improve decisions by patients and health care providers.
She will be the first woman to helm the organization, which spends $640 million on research annually.
Morton fills the vacancy left by Sethuraman Panchanathan, who now leads the National Science Foundation.
