Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez is asking residents not to go out in public for Black Friday. The Navajo Nation’s three-week stay-at-home lockdown is in effect at all times and every day.

The lockdown has exceptions for essential workers, emergencies and for times when residents need to purchase essential items.

On Thursday, the Navajo Department of Health, the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Arena Indian Health Service reported 226 new COVID-19 cases as well as five more deaths.

Nez wants people to remain safe by washing hands often, wearing masks, social distancing and avoiding crowds.
