New research shows Arizona is both highly vulnerable to the health effects of climate change, but also highly prepared to deal with those impacts.
The report from Johns Hopkins University and Trust for America’s Health finds Arizona is one of 17 states in the highest level of vulnerability, and one of 16 states with the highest level of preparedness.
The vulnerability assessment included factors like threats of extreme heat, flooding and severe storms, while also considering social factors, like poverty, housing and transportation. On the preparation side, public health preparedness, along with climate-related adaptation went into the scoring.
Rhea Farberman is director of communications and policy research at Trust for America’s Health, and The Show spoke with her for more about the report's findings.
