Sedona Film Festival Postponed From February To June 2021

The upcoming 27th-annual Sedona Film Festival has been postponed from February to June next year because of the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in Arizona. But the postponement may have been for the better.

The change from February to June means more time for attendees to receive two doses of a coronavirus vaccine before they gather for the annual nine-day festival.

New this year will be holding outdoor film screenings.

Patrick Schweiss, executive director of the film festival, said organizers initially hadn’t planned on being outdoors.

“It's not the hot, hot, crazy time of July in August. It's the nice mild time still in June in the evenings. And it really does help us mitigate the COVID-19 mess and still follow CDC guidelines and keep people safe," Schweiss said.

Organizers also are allowing attendees to choose their own seats. Attendees will be required to wear masks, and staff and volunteers will have their temperatures taken daily.
