FTC Warns Of Coronavirus Vaccine Scams

The coronavirus pandemic has led to a host of new scams aimed at older adults — everything from fake COVID-19 cures to door-to-door sanitation services. Now the Federal Trade Commission published a blog post  warning of coronavirus vaccine scams

The FTC is warning the public to pay attention to possible vaccine-related scams.

It warned that if you get a call, text or even a knock on a door from someone promising early access to the coronavirus vaccine, it’s a scam.

It also cautioned against paying money to put your name on a list to get the vaccine, and it said no one from a vaccine distribution site or an insurance company will call asking for personal information like a Social Security number, credit card number or bank account.

The FTC also warned against scams promising products or treatments to prevent COVID-19.
