Arizona state Rep. Bret Roberts is asking the Arizona attorney general if Pima County’s mandatory curfew violates a directive from the governor.
On Nov. 23, the Pima County Board of Supervisors instituted an optional curfew, but opted for a mandatory curfew on Dec. 15.
Roberts says he believes the curfew “violates individual freedom and stands as a clear case of dangerous government overreach,” but doesn’t stop the spread of COVID-19.
The resolution, approved by supervisors in a split 3-2 vote, mandates a daily curfew throughout the county between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
The curfew will be in place until Pima County's infection rate drops below 100 per 100,000 people.
