Many residents and staff at long-term care facilities have already received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. But some Arizona caregivers are worried about getting the shot and have decided to wait.
David Voepel is the CEO of the Arizona Health Care Association. His organization represents 148 skilled nursing facilities in the state. He says while a high percentage of residents are taking the vaccine, staff are more hesitant.
"They are wanting to see how their co-workers do with the first shot before they take it," he said. "They don't quite understand how this vaccine was made so rapidly in a year's time. And they're worried about some of the other talk that's out there, some of the conspiracy theories that are out there."
A COVID-19 vaccination is not currently mandatory for nursing home staff or residents.
