Refugee Supporters Post Legal Victory Over Trump Order

Refugee supporters have won another victory over President Trump in the legal fight over whether they needed permission from local leaders to keep doing resettlements.

The Justice Department did not comment on the 4th U.S. Circuit Appeals Court having upheld an order blocking enforcement of Trump’s policy.

In 2019, Arizona’s governor and the mayors of the state’s two biggest cities signed off on refugees continuing to start over here.

But Trump’s order stirred debate in states like North Dakota and Tennessee. Texas, a top receiver of people fleeing violence, said it would opt out.

Trump dropped the limit on refugee arrivals each year in office. It’s now at 15,000. President-elect Biden plans to raise the cap to 125,000.

local agency has said reaching that goal will be a gradual process.
