New cases of COVID-19 in Arizona may be heading down after two weeks of record-breaking case reporting. But Arizona is still leading the world in average new confirmed COVID-19 cases per capita.
The state health department posted 5,400 new cases Jan. 18. And those numbers may lag due to weekend reporting.
At the same time, there is some good news: The number of suspected inpatient cases in hospitals has fallen for a sixth straight day.
And the vaccination of Arizonans continues. Now, more people than 270,000 Arizonans have been vaccinated against the virus.
