The Arizona Democratic Party has elected state Rep. Raquel Terán as their new party chair.
Terán won 75% of the vote, held at the annual Arizona Democratic Party state committee meeting. She defeated Sarah Tyree, a social worker and a former candidate for Arizona Senate.
Terán represents State District 30, in central Maricopa County. She is a member of both the Elections Committee and the Regulatory Affairs Committee in the Arizona House of Representatives.
At the committee meeting, Arizona Democrats also passed four resolutions, including one that urged Democratic Sens. Kyrsten Sinema and Mark Kelly to vote to convict former President Donald Trump for incitement of insurrection at the Senate’s upcoming impeachment trial.
