Search Continues For Inmates Who Escaped From Florence Prison

The Department of Corrections and law enforcement agencies are still searching for two inmates who escaped from the state prison in Florence on Saturday.

Inmates John Charpiot and David Harmon escaped from the medium-custody unit with a bolt cutter and other tools they took after breaking into a shed.

Authorities are searching the area around the prison and have offered a $35,000 reward per inmate for information leading to their arrests.

"Bear in mind, we’re looking at pictures of these subjects as they appeared when they escaped. They may not look like that any more. This subject, Charpiot, may have shaved his beard. They’ve certainly got different clothing by now, they are not running around in their orange corrections uniforms," said Heston Silbert of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Officers are using tracking dogs, door-to-door canvassing and prison camera footage to help locate the inmates.
