In Hermosillo and the other cities currently at maximum risk for coronavirus spread, restaurants must close in-person dining at 8 p.m. and can offer takeout and delivery until 10 p.m. That’s been challenging for the many restaurants in the city that cater to late-night diners.
“Our product — a hotdog, a percheron burrito — is eaten after 7 p.m.,” said Ernesto Labrada with the recently formed Union of Late Night Food.
Some members of the organization, which represents a couple hundred businesses, have also had trouble accessing delivery applications, spelling slow business for them in recent weeks.
The group held two protests this week to pressure state authorities to allow restaurants to work later.
