Dr. Francisco García of the Pima County Health Department is cautiously optimistic about his county’s declining number of COVID-19 cases.
"The number of cases per hundred thousand, the rate of positivity and the incidents of COVID-like illness in the community, (are) all headed in the best direction," García said.
García says mortality data is lagging, but hospitalizations are going down.
He also says researchers are still analyzing the virus mutations, but added the vaccine appears to be effective.
