University Of Arizona Public Health Expert: Arizona On Other Side Of COVID-19 Peak

As thousands of Arizonans are finally getting vaccinated against COVID-19, the number of new cases in Arizona is slowly starting to drop.

The Arizona Department of Health Services reported 2,250 new infections Feb. 8, though there’s typically a weekend lag in reporting.

But almost a year into the pandemic, people are getting stir crazy — and after Super Bowl parties, there's some concern those numbers could climb back up in the coming weeks.

For an update on the state of the pandemic, The Show spoke with Dr. Joe Gerald, associate professor of Public Health Policy at the University of Arizona, and team leader for the university's COVID-19 Modeling Group.
