Regional airlines have flights major airlines would not be able to operate. Small airlines may be at an advantage during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Regional airlines are still operating during the coronavirus pandemic. Ahmed Abdelghany with Embry Riddle University says regional airlines may have opportunities right now.
He says there could be some smaller routes that regional airlines could offer that large planes would not be economically able to fly.
One small regional airline is Boutique Air. It will be offering flights from Prescott to Phoenix. Vice President Brian Kondrad says the plane will seat only eight people.
He says social distancing will take place in the plane. Every passenger has a window and an isle with no seats right next to each other.
He also says passengers on small planes don’t have a large number of fellow travelers.
