Biden To Ask Most U.S. Attorneys To Step Down

President Biden will ask U.S. attorneys from the Trump administration to step down, with a couple of exceptions.

The request is a customary part of the transition process.

When Biden took office, he asked U.S. attorneys to remain in their positions.

On Tuesday, the Department of Justice announced the transition would begin, though attorneys do not have to leave immediately.

The department would not say when Arizona’s U.S. Attorney Michael Bailey plans to step down.

Biden will allow at least two attorneys to continue their work.

One in Delaware is investigating Hunter Biden, the president’s son, for possible tax crimes. The other is reviewing the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign.

U.S. attorneys represent the United States in federal cases.
