With nearly one in five city employees testing positive for COVID-19, Phoenix is now offering to pay workers to get vaccinated.
As of Feb. 10, more than 2,600 city employees had tested positive for COVID, that’s 19.3% of the city’s workforce. Of the 2,607 total cases, 1,903 people have returned to work. Eleven city employees have died as a result of COVID-19.
Police and fire departments account for half the positives tests. Employees with water services and public works make up more than 400 while the parks and aviation departments have 300 workers who’ve tested positive.
Employees who submit a completed vaccine card showing the dates of all required doses will receive $75.
