Arizona State University has announced it intends to hold in-person instruction during the fall semester.
For the fall semester, students can expect instruction will be delivered by faculty in-person, on campus as part of Learning Mode 1, the university announced on Monday. Under this stage, face coverings, physical distancing, COVID testing and daily health checks are expected to still be required, a ASU spokesman. Select courses will provide students with remote learning opportunities like they’ve been used to during the pandemic.
ASU did not immediately answer if students can expect to have a fall semester this year, or whether it will cut again like it did last year.
"We understand there are many related questions, from access to vaccines to attending football games to fall break to in-person commencement ceremonies," an ASU spokesman said. "All of those details are still being worked out. But in the coming weeks and months ahead, we will be sharing many more details about what to expect."
ASU will continue to closely monitor COVID-19 on and near its campuses and will remain ready to shift to remote learning if health conditions or local, state or federal guidelines require it, the university said.
