The Town of Paradise Valley signed an ordinance to prohibit the construction of recreational marijuana dispensaries and testing facilities last week.
Paradise Valley’s town council cited public safety concerns as the primary reason for the ban.
The town joins municipalities such as Scottsdale and Mesa that only allow medical marijuana dispensaries. Others banned marijuana delivery within city limits.
Medical dispensaries are allowed to obtain a “dual license” to sell both medical and recreational marijuana.
Arizona municipalities are unable to restrict private use of recreational marijuana for those 21 and older due to Proposition 207.
