University Of Arizona To Remain In Stage 2; In-Person Classes Under 50 Permitted

The University of Arizona anticipates it will remain in  Stage 2 this week and next.

University President Robert Robbins says that means in-person classes with fewer than 50 students are permitted. He says the coronavirus positivity rate remains fairly low.

“We administered 10,727 COVID tests with 19 positives, for a remarkably low positivity rate of 0.18%," Robbins said.

But there are still concerns about large gatherings near the campus, one professor says there were eight in the past week.

And while students socializing with each other is part of the college experience, the concern is that it will prolong the pandemic, especially if precautions are laxed.
