50,000 Arizona Vaccine Appointment Slots Fill In 2 Hours

Demand for COVID-19 vaccines in Arizona continues to be extremely high. The 50,000 appointment slots that became available Tuesday were filled within two hours.

The Arizona Department of Health Services  announced Monday that it would allow Arizonans 55 and older to register for vaccine appointments at State Farm Stadium and Phoenix Municipal Stadium. Previously, the age limit was 65.

The health department opened registration for appointments at noon Tuesday. Tens of thousands of spots were filled by 2 p.m.,  according to a tweet from the department.

The state has not announced when additional appointments will be available. But the state health department has said it  expects vaccine supply to increase throughout March and April.

The stadium sites are not the only options for appointments. Dozens of pharmacies, clinics and other vaccinators are listed at  azdhs.gov/findvaccine.
