Trying To Brighten Up Phoenix Residents' Lives, Improve Health Through Murals

A handful of metro Phoenix schools have seen their outer walls transformed by murals over the past few years, and now the same collaboration that brought color to those buildings has also led to a mural on the wall of a food bank.

Since 2015, United Healthcare Community Plans, which serves Medicaid members, has teamed up with local artist and muralist Lalo Cota to paint the sides of a handful of Valley schools. The latest mural is on the side of Nourish Phoenix, a south Phoenix food bank.

The Show spoke with both Jean Kalbacher, CEO of the United Healthcare Community Plan, and artist Lalo Cota about the partnership.
