For a third straight day, Arizona is reporting fewer than 1,000 new coronavirus cases. State health officials added 830 infections to its daily dashboard March 10, but they are also adding 78 more deaths to the total.
Hospital metrics continue to improve with the lowest number of inpatient cases since late October. Intensive Care Unit (ICU) capacity is at 85%.
As for vaccines, more than 2.2 million have been administered in Arizona with now more than 20% of people in the state inoculated at least once.
Fourteen months after the attacks of 9/11, a bipartisan commission was formed to consider what happened and why, and to gauge the nation’s preparedness and response. The idea of a commission to look into the events of Jan. 6, when a group of rioters attacked the Capitol, has also been floated.
The ongoing pandemic should also be the subject of a commission, according to New York University bioethicist Dr. Arthur Caplan. He and University of Kentucky Professor M. Sara Rosenthal recently wrote a paper arguing for the formation of such a commission.
The Show spoke with Caplan for more about why having a commission matters.
