Coconino County Supervisors Approve Marble Canyon Resort

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors has approved a plan for a resort at Marble Canyon. The project would turn about 162 acres in the Lees Ferry area, known for its remote character and sweeping landscapes, into a major development.

Colorado rafting trips launch at Lees Ferry, just a few miles away, and fly-fishers and hikers pass through as well.

A few local residents expressed concern about the size of the project, known as Marble Canyon Village, and asked if helicopter tours were on the agenda. The developers said they were not.

They envision a project that will include places for stargazing, as well as lighting that will preserve the area's darks skies. But eventually, the project calls for a hotel, motel, resort, micro breweries, wineries, restaurants and over amenities.
